Commercial data cabling and network infrastructure
Archer installs the physical infrastructure businesses need to connect equipment reliably around their premises.
Depending on the requirement, this can include:
- Cat5 data cabling
- Cat6 data cabling
- Cat7 data cabling
- network points
- network cabling for offices and commercial premises
- routers and switches as part of a suitable network installation
- wireless access points
- network and WiFi upgrades
- infrastructure for CCTV and other suitable connected systems
- termination and testing of network ports
- cable labelling and documentation
The exact specification depends on the premises, existing infrastructure and what the network needs to support.

Contact Archer about your networkPlanned around the premises
Good data cabling isn't simply about getting a cable from one side of a building to the other.
The layout needs to make sense for the equipment being connected now while keeping the infrastructure organised and practical to maintain.
Archer starts by surveying the premises and understanding what needs connecting, where connections are required and what infrastructure is already in place.
From there, we can plan the physical network around suitable locations for network points, switches, routers and wireless access points where required.
That could mean adding a small number of new network points to an existing setup, upgrading part of the infrastructure or installing a wider network across commercial premises.
Cat5, Cat6 and Cat7 data cabling
Archer installs Cat5, Cat6 and Cat7 data cabling for commercial network infrastructure.
Rather than assuming one cable type is right for every project, the specification should reflect the existing infrastructure and what the network needs to support.
We'll look at the requirement as part of the survey and recommend the appropriate approach for the premises.
Terminated, tested, labelled and documented
The quality of a data-cabling installation isn't just about what you can see when the job is finished.
Archer terminates and tests network ports as part of the installation to check that the connections are functioning correctly.
Cabling is also clearly labelled and documented so it's easier to understand what's connected where when the network needs maintaining, changing or extending in future.
For a business, that can make a significant difference when somebody needs to work on the infrastructure months or years after it was originally installed.
WiFi installation for homes and businesses
Data Cabling and WiFi often need to be considered together because wireless access points can depend on the wired infrastructure behind them.
Archer installs WiFi for homes and businesses, including suitable access points and supporting network infrastructure.
Ubiquiti network and WiFi systems
Archer specialises in Ubiquiti products for network and WiFi installations.
Depending on the requirement, Ubiquiti equipment can form part of a network installation using suitable routers, switches and wireless access points specified around the premises.
The equipment is only one part of the job. The cabling, network layout and positioning of equipment all need to work together.
Network infrastructure for CCTV and security systems
Modern electronic security systems can depend on the network infrastructure behind them.
As Archer works across both commercial networking and electronic security, we can consider the network requirements alongside systems such as CCTV rather than treating the two installations as completely unrelated.
For a business planning both a network upgrade and a new CCTV installation, that can mean considering the cabling and infrastructure requirements together from the outset.
Network infrastructure without becoming your IT department
Archer's role is the physical network and data infrastructure.
We aren't trying to replace your existing IT company or become your outsourced IT support provider.
If your business already has an IT provider, that's absolutely fine. Archer can install and work on the physical cabling and network infrastructure and work alongside your IT provider where required.
That means your IT company can continue managing the systems they're responsible for while Archer handles the installation work we're responsible for.
Upgrading an existing network
Not every project starts from scratch.
If your business already has data cabling or network infrastructure in place, Archer can survey what's there before recommending what needs changing.
That might involve adding network points, extending existing infrastructure, upgrading WiFi or troubleshooting suitable issues with the physical network.
We won't assume everything needs replacing simply because it wasn't originally installed by Archer.
Testing, troubleshooting and ongoing support
Archer can test and troubleshoot suitable network and WiFi infrastructure as well as carrying out new installations.
If there's an issue with the physical network, cabling or WiFi installation, tell us what's happening and we'll establish whether it's something Archer can help with.
Where an issue sits with software, devices or another part of a customer's IT environment, we can work alongside the customer's IT provider rather than pretending every IT problem is a cabling problem.
Security and network infrastructure from the same team
Archer has been working in the security sector since 2013 and provides both electronic security and network infrastructure for commercial customers.
Our engineers can work across data cabling, WiFi and the infrastructure supporting suitable electronic security systems.
Archer Security is SSAIB certificated and fully insured, and members of our engineering team hold relevant City & Guilds qualifications and IPAF powered-access licences.
Based in Telford, we work across Telford, Shrewsbury and the wider Shropshire area, as well as Stafford and Wolverhampton. For larger commercial projects, we can travel further where the project is a suitable fit.
Data cabling and WiFi for homes
Archer installs data cabling and WiFi for homes as well as businesses.
That can mean wired network points for a home office, a games room or a garden building, WiFi that reaches the whole house rather than just the room the router is in, or the cabling that a home CCTV or door entry system runs over.
As with commercial work, we look at the property first and recommend what is actually needed, then supply and install the equipment we have specified.
Commercial finance options
Finance options are available for commercial clients.
If spreading the cost of a data-cabling, network or WiFi installation would be useful for your business, mention it when you enquire and we'll explain the options available alongside your quotation.
Specific finance terms depend on the arrangement, so speak to Archer about the options available for your project.
